We know that real support means being responsive to real life. That’s why we've removed all severance account claim limits and waiting periods.
Whether you’re between jobs, retiring or simply moving forward, you now have full access to your Protect severance balance immediately after leaving employment. That's goodbye to staged claims, delays and restrictions on the amounts you wish to withdraw.
What's changing?

Old rule: Members could only access a limited portion of their balance upfront, with the remainder after a waiting period.

New rule: From 1 July 2025, you can now claim your full balance as soon as your employment ends - regardless of the reason.
Partial withdrawals are still permitted. You can now make a subsequent claim at any time, with no waiting period.
Why this matters
We’ve made this change so you can get your money sooner, with fewer steps and more choice. Because that’s what support should look like.
It’s not the first time we’ve made changes based on member needs. In 2020, we introduced COVID hardship claims to provide support during a time of national crisis. Now, we’re applying that same responsiveness to improve the way severance entitlements work for everyone - long term.
